Additional techniques such as, Trompe L'Oeil and gilding found their way into Egyptian, Greek and Roman civilisations on wall murals, furniture and accessories. The Europeans developed faux finishing, through a Guild System skills were handed from Master Painter to Journeyman to Apprentice. Each passed skills to the next until, eventually, the apprentice became the Master Painter and the cycle began again. During the early 20th century many advanced marbling and graining techniques came into focus, as well as the development of specialist tools, glazes and methods. Today, faux finishing is enjoying a glorious revival and can be found in many fine homes, businesses, broadcast sets, theatres, marketing applications, graphic design and civic institutions. Let us be your inspiration. Growing up in the leafy Warwickshire Countryside, from an early age Laura Ann Morris was recognised as an artist of exceptional talent. She was awarded the art scholarship at the renowned 'Solihull School' and went on to complete her Fine arts Degree, and has since travelled around the world studying decorative techniques. Specialising in artistic finishes, Laura continues to develop and enhance her own unique skills in the art of 'Faux painting', 'Trompe L'Oeil' and luxurious plaster techniques. Laura has undertaken various commissions for local governments and business establishments, designed artwork and created decorative finishes of the highest quality in some of the finest homes in Europe.
